Any copyright issues if a website has fan art (drawings and flash videos) but also has ads on the site?
I’m a college student with a lot of fan art that I’ve done in the past. I want to create a site that will generate a little money. I’ve made flash videos that are getting a lot of positive feedback from viewers so I was thinking of creating my own site to put them on. Then planned on using Google Adsense. Is this legal? Just wanted to make sure..
It’s not legal exactly but everybody does it.. I wouldn’t worry about it.
i dont think theres any legal problem unless you precede or otherwise interrupt a video or artwork with some ad.
you are making a montage.

Totally illegal.
The "fan art" you created are actually "derivative works" from copyrighted works (this includes montages, etc.). Derivative works are just as protected as the original work. Although there are "fair use" exceptions that allow you to use copyrighted works (e.g. for educational purposes, parody, etc.), making $$$ from someone else’s copyrights (as in ad revenue on a web site) without their written permission is always illegal.
