Where is the best place to make a FREE fansite?

I was searching the internet for some places to create a free fansite. And I found the fan-site.org place. But I was wondering how do I get to make the site. I applied but I’m not sure if they’ll respond. So if that fails….does anyone know I a site just as good?
I’m also wondering where to get a free domain. And what is HTML/CSS?
So what does HTML/CSS mean? LOL.
And if anyone has an up and running fansite, could you give me the link. I won’t copy anything, I just want to see how it looks.
Thanks:)

If you know HTML/CSS and a little FTP then you’re good and have options. If you don’t know HTML and stuff then you’re limited. Assuming you know HTML, it also depends on the size your planning on making your fansite. If you plan on making it large then you’ll need more than 20 MB of space or whatever. A few places I’ve tried and heard of for making sites that are good are these:
AwardSpace-200 MB of diskspace, 5G monthly traffic and more. All free and ad free if I’m remembering right.

ExtrovertHost.com-2 GB of diskspace and more bandwidth but forces you to put up a banner.

Tyreus-500 MB of diskspace but foruming posting is required. Ad-free.

HostUltra-Unlimited bandwith and disk space. There’s a free hosting package on the site. As well as others you can pay for if you want.

So give these a try and see if this is of any help. I hope it is and have fun building the fansite!!

~EDIT~: HTML and CSS are two things you’ll need to build a site. Its like a computer language and will help you create a good website. I’m awful at explaining it but go to:
www.lissaexplains.com
Its a site that teaches HTML for kids, but adults can use it too. Its easy to understand and covers everything. I used it when I was learning HTML. It was confusing at first but I kept practicing and didn’t give up. Now its all worth it, I’m still learning HTML to this day but now I can make my site cool and add all sorts of stuff w/o using a template. You get more freedom using HTML/CSS.

I’d show you my fansite but right now its under construction and will be moving to my domain and hasn’t been updated in a few months. Ohh yeah and you also asked about a domain. A few months ago I bought a domain from HostGator. They offer hosting there too. I love HostGator b/c the people are generally helpful and friendly, they hardly ever experience down time and when they do everything is back up in about 5 minutes and I was able to use a coupon code online that took off about 10 dollars off my total purchase. So go look at HostGator and look at the plans they have. I have the Baby Croc package and couldn’t be happier. You can upgrade at any time too I think.HostGator also has a pagebuilder that comes w/ it too.
