how do fan sites find their new information on the stuff going on?

my favorite fansite for my favorite band is going away I have absolutely no idea how they find all of the new pictures that come up from shows, how they find magazine scans and articles, etc. how do they do that? do they just google? I don’t want to go on knowing nothing about anything happening. the band’s website definitely does not do anything towards getting new information like the fansite did.

WhitePages.com: WhitePages http://www.whitepages.com/ and PeopleFinders http://www.peoplefinders.com/ are both good tools for tracking down people, their addresses, and their phone numbers, but the nod goes to WhitePages for its upcoming addition of voice and mobile capabilities.

If you haven’t heard already, HPFF (Harry Potter Fan Fiction) has gone up for sale! Are there any other sites that do the same (don’t say fanfiction.net, that site is not the place to really browse)

how do fan sites not breach copyright?

i was thinking about creating my own fan site but am wondering what i need to be aware of about copyright issues?

Some of them do breach copyright.

A lot of them, though, have obtained permission from the copyright holder for various things. After all, a nice fan site is free advertising, and the artist and managers know this, so they’re likely to allow fan sites to use some items with permission. Go ahead and ask…the worst is that someone will say no.

What are some good sites to build a fan-base?

I like to make music and i would like feedback on my work from time to time but, i haven’t got a fan base to turn to.

I know of sites like facebook and Myspace but i can’t get anyone to add either of them and can’t get many views on youtube. Any tips for building a fan base?

I’de prefer sites that aren’t like Myspace and Facebook and PLEASE don’t say reverb nation that site spams my email and the community isn’t very helpful.

Twitter would work. There are tons of twitter fanbases for bands, groups and people. Just get some well- know fanbases to promote you and eventually you’ll have followers. You’ll have to make your tweets good, though, or people will unfollow you.

There are a lot of fan-site hostings that offer the hosting site for free, but how and WHY?
Is it because of the ads that they put, so they get the profit from those?

H.net is awesome, but I’d love to check out some Hanson websites made by fans. I did some searching, but all I found were fan fiction sites and I’m not really into that. Are there any good unofficial websites about Hanson out there?
