Welcome To The Dollhouse, the sophomore offering from the Making the Band starlets Danity Kane (DK), seems poised to present them as a legitimate part of today’s pop music scene. With the girls writing and co-producing many songs on the album, it is evident to see in the finished product that they are maturing as artistes and are more than just a made-for-TV group. At the onset of the album, the listener is made very aware that DK is no amateur group. From the slick, dance-heavy production, to the flawless harmonies and catchy hooks, Welcome To The Dollhouse has one hot song after another.

‘You make me hotter than Jamaica’, the girls sing on the track 2 of You, and one has no choice but to move the addictive pop beat. Potential club hits can be found in almost every song on the album, from the seductive Strip Tease to the feisty Bad Girl. The ladies from Danity Kane effectively send the message that they are ready to take the world by storm.

Hints of techno and electro can be heard in tracks like Damaged, amplifying the dance-focused feel of the album. Guest stars Missy Elliott, Rick Ross, label mates Day 26 and (of course) Diddy, add to the effectiveness of the Danity Kane’s music.

The few slow tempo songs on Welcome to The Dollhouse manage to temper the mood, while showcasing the girl’s commendable vocal abilities. Tracks like Poetry and Is Anybody Listening and even the interludes Secret Place and Flashback, prove that the entire album is cohesive and filler-free, with each song holding it’s own.

The album is an overall great production and will no doubt help propel Danity Kane as the next princesses of Pop and R&B.
